Safety and Environmental Policy

Hi Class Cleaning contracts to provide a range of commercial cleaning services throughout NSW in accordance with client contract agreements. It is the responsibility of the company and employees to ensure the safety of all employees, clients and visitors and the general public at our workplaces and to carry out these tasks without damage to the environment.

Hi Class recognises that all employees, regardless of status or position have both an individual and co-operative responsibility to be uncompromising in respect of safety, health and environmental concerns. Risk management is incorporated as an integral part of all business initiatives and operations, ensuring all hazards are identified, assessed, controlled and modified as necessary to maintain safe working activities. Hi Class’s full OHS responsibilities and actions are detailed in our OHS Management Plan.

Hi Class is committed to:

a) the implementation and maintenance of an OHS Management System and Environmental management system to that required by AS/NZS 4801:2001 and AS/NZS 14001:2004 standards
b) comply to all legislative and regulatory obligations as a minimum and pursue best practice applications beyond these requirements
c) provide the necessary training for all staff to safely carry out their jobs
d) consult with staff, on a regular basis, to identify and control risks
e) maintain plant and equipment in a safe operating condition
f) isolate defective or dangerous equipment until fixed or replaced
g) set and monitor OHS and environmental improvement objectives and targets as part of our business system
h) review and assess legislative and regulatory requirements for continual improvement

Managers and Supervisors:

a) comply with policies and procedures and ensure employees work in a safe manner
b) ensure employees have appropriate personal protective equipment and use it when working
c) participate in reviews and improvements of workplace safety and conduct risk assessments
d) report any incidents and implement appropriate initial response
e) communicate clearly to staff all workplace safety and environmental objectives
f) responsible for all communication with clients on all safety and environmental issues

All employees are required to:

a) adhere to all relevant laws and regulations
b) comply with the Hi Class policies and procedures and ensure a workplace free from the influence of non-prescribed drugs and alcohol
c) participate in workplace risk assessment through consultation, induction and training
d) advise supervisors of situations where revised or greater risk control measures are required
